Passport Requirements

Given new regulations concerning travel, The U.S. Department of State and Homeland Security has announced that effective January 8, 2007 U.S. citizens traveling outside the United States will have to obtain a valid passport prior to leaving and re-entering the country. The new regulations will be implemented in the following stages:

As of January 23, 2007 - U.S. citizens will be required when traveling to and from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, present a valid passport.

Effective January 1, 2008 - U.S. citizens will be required to present a valid U.S. passport for all air, sea, and land border crossings.

It is important to note that these requirements could change or be amended at any time. Because of this initiative you may want to obtain a passport prior to booking travel arrangements as the average processing time is 6 - 8 weeks. For further information please consult the U.S. State Department - Passports.

For our Non-U.S. citizen clients it is advisable to contact your nearest consulate or embassy regarding changes in your travel regulations to countries outside the United States. We strongly recommend all travelers confirm and familiarize themselves with all entry/exit requirements to intended countries of visitation before departure. The following web site may be of use: Foreign Entry Requirements.

While we will make efforts to inform and help our clients with current travel regulations; please be aware that the responsibility of the traveler to meet the necessary travel requirements, to and from the United States and countries intended to visit, rests solely on the traveler.
